Shipping delays 2021-2022

shipping port congestion

2021-2022 has been a challenging period for us to ship our products. Mongolia has only two shipping routes to the rest of the world; either through China or Russia. The main route is through China, our containers are first shipped to Tianjin port city in the northeast of China and then loaded on an ocean vessel and shipped to their final destinations, mostly to the U.S.

But due to COVID-19, there have been big backlogs of shipments both at the Chinese and U.S ports from September until early 2022. More than 4,000 Mongolian containers are piled at Tianjin Port. Then in early 2022, China tightened its Covid-related restriction in preparation of/during the Winter Olympics, virtually blocking all exports from Mongolia. Shipment though Russia is logistically much more challenging, and then became impossible due to the war in Ukraine. As a result, shipping progress has been extremely slow. We would like to express our sincere apologies for our customers; some of them placed their orders more than a year earlier, and thank you for your patience and understanding of the situation. We had only two order cancellations, which we fully refunded. The remaining customers chose to wait despite the long delays, and we are immensely grateful for your understanding.

As of March 2022, we are observing that the shipping situation starting to improve, albeit slowly, and we are hoping that we will be able to deliver your yurts in May-June 2022.

Update: April 10, 2022. Our shipment is finally set for loading on a vessel scheduled to arrive in California in late May. If everything goes smoothly, we will be able to deliver most of our orders in the first half of June.
